Welcome to the Safety Ambassador’s webpage. We are excited to share with you our latest news as we continue to embed behavioural safety and our core values throughout the company, developing an “employee ownership of safety” and encouraging a “blame free” work environment.”
3 days 1 focus
Effective communication, including frequent interactions amongst our workforce and stakeholders is vital to continually improve our safety culture. As Safety Ambassadors, one of our recent challenges was the organisation of three, company-wide safety days.
Ryan Ward (Laboratory Technician) explains “We all have to do our part to help each other stay safe and ensure the continuance of our Esprit d’Equipe mission. This means letting each other know what is expected, and what is needed to safely conduct our operations”.
Safety day success
These dedicated safety days proved to be a great success for EPC-UK, uniting the entire workforce in our safety goal and giving the Esprit d’Equipe initiative real traction.
Each day comprised of a variety of safety related activities including:
- live explosives awareness demonstrations
- hazard spotting
- driving with visual impairment
- displays from the local Emergency Services.
We would also like to express our sincere thanks to Paul Mahoney (guest speaker) at our factory safety day. Paul delivered a profound message on workplace safety, after being injured in a workplace accident. This human element was particularly powerful and helped colleagues to understand the implications when things go wrong.
Sharing our values
“As a Safety Ambassador myself, I speak for all of us when I say, we really enjoyed organising the safety days, and it was great to hear excellent feedback from our colleagues. By sharing these values with our stakeholders, families and friends, we will endeavour to achieve the goal of ‘zero harm’ each day.” Adrian Taylor (Multiblend Operator)
