EPC-UK 2020 Charity Golf Day | Thursday 3rd September 2020

We are delighted to announce that plans are now in place to make the EPC-UK 2020 charity golf day our most successful fund raising event yet.

For the fifth successive year we’re going to be returning to the McDonald Portal Hotel & Spa in Cheshire alongside staff, clients, colleagues and partners, in an effort to raise more funds than ever before for school defibrillator charity, Hand on Heart.

Our chosen golf day cause, Hand on Heart strives to help prevent the deaths of young people who die unexpectedly due to sudden cardiac arrest (SCA).

The charity, which aims to raise awareness of SCA in young people, provides and funds defibrillators in schools, and educates young people and teaching staff regarding Basic Life Support training.

In 2019 the charity received £2,500 in sponsorship funds, generated by our golfing teams; an amount we’re hoping to exceed this year with a refreshed competition between familiar faces.

What’s going to happen and when?

On Thursday 3rd September 2020, the day will commence with coffee and sumptuous bacon rolls, followed by an 18-hole Texas Scramble competition, with both team and individual prizes. There will be a “nearest-the-pin” and a “longest drive” competition, rounded off with a chance to relax over a three-course dinner and presentation evening.

Who’s involved?

Welcoming back the 60 players whose sterling performances helped raise much needed funds last year, alongside new participants who wish to join this highly enjoyable sporting event.

How will the golf day help?

The Hand on Heart charity informs us that 270 children die each year at school from SCA. Having a defibrillator on a school’s premises, together with individuals who have hands-on knowledge of how to effectively use such equipment, has life-saving implications. We hope that by raising further funds in 2020, additional apparatus and training can be secured in more schools, nationwide.

“It is our goal here at EPC-UK to make all schools heart safe, and by competing in our annual golf day, friends and associates are benefiting this vital cause, whilst enjoying spirited, sporting comradery.”
