New for Hillhead 2024 – POLAREX© demos on the EPC stand

Apr 30, 2024

Hillhead 2024 (25-27 June) is set to create the ideal platform for EPC-UK and EPC Metrics to showcase three of its latest technical developments, each designed to improve service, sustainability and efficiencies for customers.

At this year’s event, our passionate presentation team will take to the stand to detail our new ROG+ service, demonstrate borehole deviation monitoring tool, POLAREX©, and explain the advantages we’re bringing to customers through our merger with specialist vibration measurement solution provider, Vibraquipo.

Here is EPC-UK’s Commercial Manager, Ryan Ward, detailing POLAREX:

POLAREX – robust, tried, tested

“We’re excited to be bringing the POLAREX OP (open pit) probe to our Hillhead stand this year,” Ryan says. “The equipment is EPC Groupe Innovation 2i’s answer to resolving customers’ down-the-hole measurement issues and has been built directly by the EPC Groupe team.  It is successfully and extensively being used by customers globally, already proving its worth as an effective borehole deviation monitoring tool for measuring and maintaining the orientation and angular velocity of blast holes, controlling energy and improving safety.”

POLAREX MINI OP technical specification:

  • USB C rechargeable battery (15hrs lifetime)
  • High quality grade compass (accuracy ± 0.50)
  • Inclinometer (accuracy ± 0.10)
  • Dip angle range (-900, 900)
  • Operating temperature (-40, +80)
  • Realtime reporting via POLAREX© App
  • Email results sharing
  • VERTEX© integration
  • Aluminium enclosure
  • ø 32mm dia 500 or 1000mm length 650g
  • Bluetooth
  • Compass sensor
  • Android app
  • Designed, manufactured and implemented by EPC Groupe, certified ISO 9001,
    ISO 14001, ISO 22301, ISO 45001.

Greater control, better results

“By building the probe ourselves, EPC can speed up the service it provides to customers,” Ryan continues. “Here in the UK we can better manage, supply, calibrate and maintain the equipment and service through the engineering support of our EPC Metrics team; helping to reduce customer costs, and, importantly, better quantify design vs. actual results to deliver increased, continued accuracy.

In addition, the android compatible POLAREX© App we’ve created perfectly supports the probe’s efficacy as it’s easy to use and enables data to be transferred to EXPERTIR© or other blast design software tools on a phone or tablet.”

See it on the stand

“We’ll be demonstrating a live version of POLAREX on the stand at Hillhead, giving customers the chance to have a ‘hands on’ experience with this highly enabling equipment. Come and talk to us then and we’ll show you how we’re ready to shape the future of the drilling & blasting industry. In the meantime, if you’d like to talk to me about any of our commercial services or products, please drop me an email at ryan.ward@epc-groupe.co.uk.”
