This month has brought the severity of global environmental events into sharp focus. At the 2021 United Nations Climate Change Conference, COP26, influential parties congregated together in Glasgow to spur action in response to Climate Change.
The environmental emergency will affect us all, personally and professionally and as such EPC-UK will continue to align forces with all of its partners and customers to collaboratively progress our transition towards greener operations and environmentally supportive technologies.
For the good of the planet, our employees and the communities we work within, we have been advancing our digitalized capabilities well ahead of the COP26 summit. Developments in drone technologies, integrated software applications and state-of-the-art monitoring and analysis tools are already enabling us to build ‘the digital quarry’ of tomorrow, where environmental impact is reduced and CO2 production from the blasting process can be measured and improved.
We also continue to further our environmental stewardship of the protective barriers of countryside around our operating sites, enabling us to make differences which benefit neighbouring wildlife, the surrounding landscape and the sustainable livelihoods of those who work within it.
Energy and Sourcing
We continue to be affected by the impact of energy pricing on all areas of the business and especially the unique position of a UK based manufacturing and service provider with the supply chains being tested and increase prices on all key products. As such at the time of writing we are still waiting on the decision on the long-term future of the CF Fertiliser Immingham plant. We have received no written reassurances as to its future from neither the Government or the Company itself which should concern us all. We will continue to lobby on behalf of our industry for the continuation of UK, AN manufacturing.
MPA Safety Award Finalist
This month we celebrated our finalist position in the MPA Safety Awards’ Safer Production category. We were acknowledged for our Danger Zone Modelling and safety enhancing drone utilisation. We felt extremely proud of these achievements and the differences that we are making to heighten safety industry-wide.
Opportunities for the Future
EPC-UK’s technological advancements require skilled expertise, alongside the creation of new employment opportunities that are effectively driving greener operating practices.
