Hillhead heads up – EPC-UK and EPC Metrics at the heart of industry innovation in 2024

Apr 30, 2024

Once again, EPC-UK and EPC Metrics are looking forward to returning to the stand at the biennial industry show, Hillhead 2024.

Following on from the exhilarating TechDay conferences and guided tours we shared with EPC Groupe’s EPC2i division in France, our UK team is ready to showcase the latest generation innovations and sustainability driven solutions in Buxton this year.

EPC-UK’s Commercial Manager, Ryan Ward gives a taster of what visitors will be able to see, learn and experience when they meet up with our passionate presentation team at the 2024 show:

“Preparations are lining up for our Hillhead team to detail EPC-UK’s market leading, optimised performance solutions and the latest generation technologies to help drive sustainability and net zero strategy goals for customers,” Ryan says.

On the stand this year we’ll be showing visitors a selection of exciting technologies from our growing digitalized portfolio, and sharing news of new manufacturing developments, including:

ROG+ – improving the entire value chain

Expanding EPC-UK and EPC Metrics’ capabilities beyond drilling & blasting alone, the team will showcase the new ROG+ service which involves measuring customers’ blast impact on a continual, feedback loop basis. This enables engineers to make slight adjustments to improve future blasting decisions and better the entire value chain from face-to-gate or mine-to-mill.

By choosing only the tech elements of the service that apply to their individual sites and through benefiting from the advanced accuracy of ROG+’s machine learning, customers can reduce expenditure and environmental impact, whether that’s linked to loading, hauling, fuel usage or crushing.

POLAREX© – robust, tried, tested

The team will demonstrate the POLAREX OP (open pit) probe. This effective borehole deviation monitoring tool for measuring and maintaining the orientation and angular velocity of blast holes resolves down-the-hole measurement issues, controls energy, and manages flyrock issues and QA/QC hole constraints.

With the engineering support of the EPC Metrics team, customers’ POLAREX equipment is better managed, supplied, calibrated and maintained, helping to reduce costs and, importantly, better quantify design vs. actual results to improve continuous accuracy.

Supported with the android compatible POLAREX© App, the probe is as easy to use as it is effective, with the data gathered simply transferred to the EXPERTIR© or other blast design software package using a phone or tablet.

Vibraquipo – optimising blast performance

EPC Groupe’s progressive collaboration with vibration measurement instrument provider Vibraquipo in 2024 will further customers’ digitalization and data management strategies out in the field. A leading international manufacturer of instrument solutions for the quarrying, mining and tunnelling industries, Vibraquipo’s equipment and EPC Metrics’ associated service options will mean instruments can be managed, supplied and calibrated here in the UK. At the Hillhead stand customers can find out more about this value-adding, technically advanced service that’s now available in addition to EPC-UK’s established drilling & blasting solutions.

EPC Boost T manufacture

Hillhead stand visitors can also find out more about the UK manufacture of EPC Boost T, planned to come into effect during 2024. Boost T will be the first UK manufactured booster product for many years, illustrating EPC Groupe’s confidence in the UK market and team to provide one of its global product solutions. The new facility located at EPC-UK’s Alfreton site will be a fully automated, operator-less facility, that will improve security of supply and product quality through the modernised robotic production process.

Come and talk to us during Hillhead and our team will show you how EPC-UK is ready to shape the future of the drilling & blasting industry,” Ryan says. “In the meantime, if you’d like to talk about any of our commercial services or products, please drop me an email at ryan.ward@epc-groupe.co.uk
