Five Alive Focus: Our latest defib donation goes to…Upton FC!

Apr 30, 2024

Back in January 2024 EPC-UK reported news that, as a result of last year’s outstanding fundraising success, we have been able to secure the donation of five more sets of lifesaving defibrillation equipment within community sports facilities nationwide.

The second of those five donations has been presented to Upton FC, which as club founder and secretary Steve Kell explains, “has been gratefully received by all involved with the club, including players, volunteers and parents.”

Safety goal

“This is an invaluable piece of equipment,” he goes on to say, “which will go towards Upton FC realising its goal of providing a defibrillator for each of its thirteen teams.”

Situated on the Wirral in the Merseyside district of Upton, the club was founded in 1994. Its 247 members, including 37 club officials, are a mix of adults, boys and girls of all abilities and ages from ten upwards.

In addition to his role as club secretary, Steve runs his own construction health & safety training company, SPK Training. He is a former First Aid trainer, so is fully aware of the positive impact defibrillators have on increasing an individual’s chance of survival from cardiac arrest.

A Golf Day regular

Commenting on our main fundraising event of the year, Steve says, “I first attended the EPC-UK Charity Golf Day seven years ago and have been sure to reserve my place at the annual event ever since. I requested Upton FC receive a defib donation this time around, as although our club has access to one set of fixed equipment, given the number of players, volunteers and parents that attend our training sessions and matches, we want more lifesaving defibs on hand and ready to use if needed, helping to make Upton FC an increasingly heart safe space.”

Sign up to play in 2024

EPC-UK hopes to make more money than ever for our heartfelt cause at the 10th anniversary EPC-UK 2024 Charity Golf Day on Thursday 5th September, places for which are now ready to reserve.

Please email: Julie.Wootton@epc-groupe.co.uk to sign up and play or to nominate your local school or sports facility to receive a defibrillator and training.
