We’re delighted to report that yet another hugely successful charity golf event swung into action last week at the prestigious Macdonald Portal Golf and Spa Hotel in Cheshire.
Helping to raise further funds for our chosen charitable cause of ‘Hand on Heart’, this special away day not only saw our customers, suppliers and staff enjoy a spirited day of good natured golf, but enabled us to raise money to secure yet more much-needed defibrillators for schools around the country.
Having racked up an impressive £2,500 this year, we hope to fund equipment and training to place two defibrillators in schools; each intended to help prevent the deaths of the 12 young people who suddenly die every single week from cardiac arrest.
Thanks to our 18 sporting teams of four, who each relished 18-holes of championship golf, and the valued generosity of everyone who donated a raffle prize, as well as the companies who sponsored a hole or a ‘nearest the pin’, we have continued to make a difference to this fantastic cause.
Together we raffled over 60 prizes, including an iPad, golf equipment, hotel overnight stays, shopping vouchers and bottles of spirits.
We were delighted to welcome some new faces to the course this year and were fortunate enough to experience relatively kind weather. Despite a light shower in the morning, everyone enjoyed themselves.
There were some memorable moments during the day, including an occasion when one of our competitors impressively drove his ball into the pond, which hit the pond bed, then bounced out again and straight onto the green!
This year’s winners played extremely well, and we’d like to extend our congratulations to:

With our event funds for 2019 now confirmed, we’ll soon be asking EPC-UK staff around the country to nominate the two schools they’d like to see benefit from a defibrillator installation and specialist training.
