The Institute of Quarrying has announced the national winners of its IQ Excellence Awards and we’re delighted to say that EPC-UK has be honoured with not one, but two awards.

Our first is for ‘Best initiative to engage a workforce or team’ and is an acknowledgment of the proven capabilities we’ve demonstrated in operating as a health and safety advocate; successfully encouraging employees’ physical and mental well-being through the company’s ‘Commit to be Fit’ initiative.

The second award has been received by our own Managing Director, Ben Williams, who, having played an instrumental part in improving health and safety within EPC-UK, the wider EPC Groupe and the UK quarrying industry, has been presented with the ‘Most Effective Health and Safety Leadership’ award.

Commenting on the achievement, Ben Williams says: “To be honoured with two awards is a fantastic achievement and testament to the continued hard work and commitment of the entire EPC-UK team. We all strive to go that extra mile in creating and implementing initiatives that are designed to contribute to a safer and healthier working environment for us all.”

The awards – prestigious accolades that celebrate the personal and professional excellence of people working in the mineral extractives sector – were to be presented at a ceremony during Hillhead 2020. Unfortunately, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the ceremony was unable to go ahead.

“It is a shame that we are not able to celebrate our success alongside our peers, who have also been recognised for their achievements, but it is still a privilege to be recognised by the IQ Excellence judging panel for our health, safety and well-being led culture and the successes our initiatives have helped to achieve,” concludes Ben.
